Dater After School Clubs and Activities 2026-2027

Dater School offers many clubs to help enrich the social experience and further explore young interests and hobbies. Some clubs will be run in school, and families will get special communications about those from the Dater front office as they come up. The PTO helps organize lottery sign-ups for after school clubs, and we are excited to launch our new club ranking system, which will help ensure that all interested students get into at least one club of their choosing. 

How to sign up:

• Below you will find a brief description of all the clubs at Dater, with the time of year they are available. 
• Please speak with your student about the offerings, and decide which clubs they would like to sign up for, in order of preference. 
• Follow this link to the Dater Club Ranking Form, fill out the student/parent information fields, then drag and drop each club to match your child’s preference order. Click the red X to omit any clubs they do not wish to rank.
• You will get an email confirmation that you have filled out the form, with your child’s club preferences in ranked order. 
• NOTE: You may fill out the form as many times as you want prior to the deadline of Thursday, October 1 to re-rank your child’s choices, but only the most recently submitted form will count. 

The small print...

• No child will be allowed to participate without a parent's permission.
• All clubs meet once per week (actual day TBD), except for Robotics, which will meet 1-2 times per week. 
• All clubs have a limited capacity of 20-24 students, selected by lottery, NOT first-come, first-served. 
• Filling out the form is not a guarantee that your child will get the top club they desire, and the more clubs you rank, the greater the chance they will be selected for at least one. The form will also create waitlists, so that in the event that a selected student is unable to attend, waitlisted students will get a call from the office with an opportunity to join.
• The Dater Front Office will be in touch with more details after the ranking form closes. 
• It is the parent’s responsibility to provide transportation from the school when the after school activities are over.
• Families will fill out a transportation permission slip from the Front Office. Students will only be allowed to leave as described on their permission slip, which will be filled out once the office confirms you're student has been selected for a given club. If you have changes, you must email the Club/Intramural Teacher or call the school at 201-785-2325.
• You will be notified of changes to the schedule and make-up sessions based on the emails you provided when you registered for the Dater PTO Website.

Flag Football 

with Mr. Quinlan: Flag football will happen during the month of October, and both 4th grade and 5th graders will have 5 sessions each from 3-3:45 pm.

Lego Robotics 

with Mr. Quinlan: In this club, there is an emphasis on creativity and problem solving using LEGO® Education SPIKE™ Prime Set. We will be following the First Lego League rules for our club. Students are randomly assigned to teams of 4 (by grade) to work together! This year, we are not entering into a competition, but we will be joining The First Lego League and using their Bigelow classpack for our club.

Art Club 

with Mrs. Hudson: An opportunity for 4th & 5th grade students to express their thoughts, feelings and creativity through various art forms! Dater students will work on school-wide projects, as well as an independent project over the course of 6 meetings… and have lots of FUN in the process!

Yoga Club 

with Mrs. Geist and Ms. Guarnieri: Learn and practice the basic yoga postures and mindful breathing. A great way for students to reduce stress, connect with their thoughts and practice mindful movement.

Yard Games/Ultimate Frisbee 

with Mr. Quinlan: Learn how to play various yard games and ultimate frisbee with Mr. Quinlan. Open to both 4th & 5th grade.
