5TH GRADE YEARBOOK  | MUST ORDER BY FRIDAY, APRIL 24TH

Image result for 2019 5th grade yearbookAttention 5th Grade Students only!

 It’s YEARBOOK Time!

The yearbook is a great memento of our children’s time at Dater. We will have one available this year for our 5th grade students at a cost of $25.

The children will receive their yearbooks on the last day of school, which will coincide with the yearbook signing. At the yearbook signing (students only), the 5th grade students will have the opportunity to have classmates along with teachers sign their yearbooks.

Extra yearbooks will NOT be ordered so you must place your order on time.

The amazing year book committee has come up with some fun ideas to help fill the pages, be on the lookout for more information.  Planning ahead, just in case the students are not able to sign the yearbooks in person at the end of the year, we thought it would be fun to have a page of student signatures in the yearbook.

To submit a custom signature for your student:

Use an app to create a signature.  For example, on the iPhone you can use the notes app and then save as a picture.

Or you can have the students write their signature and take a picture of it.

Please email your child’s signature to qjohnna_lynnp@yahoo.com by May 1 st.

Not sure if you already ordered the yearbook?  Go to My Account/Forms > Previous Orders

school chorus  |  registration november 22nd - 27th

We are excited to offer students the opportunity to participate in Dater School’s Fourth Grade and Fifth Grade Chorus. This is a great opportunity for young singers to explore their interest by learning new vocal skills and exciting songs, and by performing with other students who share their passion for music. We hope that your child will consider being part of this program.

We ask that students who choose to participate in the Chorus make a commitment to the ensemble. Without regular attendance by all involved, it will be difficult for the group to make progress and reach its full potential. Students who sign up for chorus are expected to attend EVERY rehearsal, unless they have a valid reason for missing. Students with more than 3 unexcused rehearsal absences may not be able to participate in the performance opportunities.

5TH GRADE

Rehearsals will mostly be held each Thursday after school from 2:50pm-3:40pm, beginning Thursday, December 5th. A complete rehearsal calendar can be found on the reverse of this letter, on the Dater PTO website or Mr. Bogert’s classroom site.

The chorus will have multiple performances this year, including the Dater Holiday Sing & Spring Concert, and the Ramsey District Choral Collage. They will also attend the band and chorus picnic, and possibly participate in some other special events during the year.

More Info - 5th   Rehearsal Calendar - 5th

4TH GRADE

Rehearsals will be held each Wednesday after school from 2:50pm-3:40pm, beginning Wednesday, January 15th. A complete rehearsal calendar can be found on the reverse of this letter, on the Dater PTO website or Mr. Bogert’s classroom site.

Each week, the fourth grade chorus will prepare several songs to be performed at the Dater School Spring Concert on Wednesday, May 13th, 2020. The benefits for students participating in a music ensemble include increased self-confidence, listening skills, and aural skills. Students also have the chance to express themselves creatively, and the activity can be a stress-reducer for those who like to sing.

SCHOOL MUSICAL practices  |

Practices will begin on Wednesday, September 26th.  The schedule and music will be posted on the Dater website on Wednesday, September 12th.  Moving forward you will be receiving most of your information about the musical through the directors on the school website under Students - School Musical.

The days your child has to attend will depend on the role they have in the play.  Hence, it is possible that a child be required to attend one, two or three days a week.  Keep in mind all of the practices will be after school and can end anywhere from 4:15 to 5:30 pm depending on the schedule.

Please understand that as we approach the show we will be staying after school longer.  Attendance at these practices is very important to the production of our play.  If a child has three unexcused absences, their participation in the play will be impacted.  Please discuss with your child the commitment they are making if they choose to participate in the musical.

5th grade school chorus  |

This year, we will continue to offer students the opportunity to participate in a Fifth Grade After School Chorus. This is a great opportunity for students who like singing to explore their interest, learn new skills and songs, and perform with other students who share their interest. We hope that your child will consider being part of this program.

Rehearsals will be held Thursdays after school from 2:50-3:40 beginning November 1.

This chorus will perform at the Holiday Sing on Friday, December 21st, the district wide Choral Collage on Monday, February 11th at Ramsey High School, the Spring Music Concert on Wednesday, May 15th, and possibly participate in some other special events during the year.

We ask that students who choose to participate in the 5th Grade Chorus make a commitment to the ensemble.  Without regular attendance by all involved, it will be difficult for the group to make progress and reach its full potential. Students who sign up for chorus are expected to attend each rehearsal, unless they have a valid reason for missing. Students who miss more than 3 unexcused rehearsals each season may not be able to participate in the performance opportunities.

Students participating in “Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, JR.” will be excused from the first 3 rehearsals.

Please sign up now until October 26th.  No child will be allowed to participate without a signed permission slip.

SCHOOL MUSICAL GENERAL MEETING  |  SEPT 12TH 2:45 - 3:30PM

Students should then plan to attend a general meeting on Wednesday, September 12th from 2:45 - 3:30 pm in our school gymnasium.  At that meeting we will be introducing the music and theme of our production to the children.  We will also have signups for main part auditions, chorus groups (non-audition) and scenery and stage crew.  Students who sign up for scenery may also sign up to be in a chorus group.  Anyone who wishes to participate can participate in some way.

The selection of parts will be the responsibility of the directors of the play.  This year the directors are: Mrs. Melissa Aujero, Mrs. Shelley Doherty, Mrs. Elizabeth Jezequel and Mrs. Eileen Leon.  The selection process and the fact that a child may not get the part he/she is hoping for will be discussed with the children at the first organizational meeting.  I urge you to also discuss with your child; as this will hopefully minimize any disappointment.  Students will be notified by letter if they are selected for a 'call back'.  Students not receiving a 'call back' letter will be assigned to a chorus group.  All cast member notifications will be received during the last week of September.
